Layered Double Perovskites

چکیده
Successful strategies for the design of crystalline materials with useful function are frequently based on systematic tuning chemical composition within a given structural family. Perovskites formula ABX 3 , perhaps best-known example such family, have vast range elements A, B, and X sites, which associated similarly functionality. Layered double perovskites (LDPs), subset this obtained by suitable slicing restacking perovskite structure, additional feature ordered cations and/or anions. In addition to inorganic LDPs, we also discuss hybrid (organic-inorganic) LDPs here, where A-site cation is protonated organic amine. Several examples presented discussion their ferroic, magnetic, optical properties. The emerging area particularly rich leading exciting discoveries new compounds unique structures fascinating optoelectronic We provide context what important consider when designing conclude future opportunities in broad LDP area.

Structure for perovskites with layered ordering of A-site cations.
The structure of La(1/3)NbO3 is that of a perovskite with La3+ cations ordered into alternate layers of perovskite A-sites. This is the description of a tetragonal structure and yet the room-temperature structure shows an orthorhombic distortion. The structure of La(2/3)TiO3 shows similar features. It has been recognized only very recently that the orthorhombic distortion in both these compound...
متن کاملMachine learning bandgaps of double perovskites
The ability to make rapid and accurate predictions on bandgaps of double perovskites is of much practical interest for a range of applications. While quantum mechanical computations for high-fidelity bandgaps are enormously computation-time intensive and thus impractical in high throughput studies, informatics-based statistical learning approaches can be a promising alternative. Here we demonst...
متن کاملRaman studies of A2MWO6 tungstate double perovskites.
The Raman spectra of seven A(2)MWO(6) tungstate double perovskites are analysed. Ba(2)MgWO(6) is a cubic double perovskite with Fm3[combining macron]m symmetry and its Raman spectrum contain three modes that can be assigned in a straightforward manner. A fourth mode, the asymmetric stretch of the [WO(6)](6-) octahedron, is too weak to be observed. The symmetry of Ba(2)CaWO(6) is lowered to tetr...
